UMass Amherst Professors, Caryn Brause, and Joseph Krupczynski, are our guests in this conversation about El Corazón: The Heart of Holyoke.
This is a project, kickstarting on March 22, 2019, at 5:30 PM, with a fundraiser campaign, and a free community party at El Mercado, 413 Main St. in Holyoke, where it will be presented all the details about this creative placemaking project for Main Street, celebrating the artistic and cultural vitality of Holyoke’s Puerto Rican and Latinx Community.
The crowdfunding website is now open. You can visit the site, view the project video, learn more about this effort, and give generously at:

The Patronicity website will receive all monetary contributions, and for the following 60 days, the campaign will aim to raise $20, 000. By reaching its goal, these funds will be matched by Mass Development, for a total of $40, 000.
Brause and Krupczynski, are Directors of the Center for Design Engagement in Holyoke, a space located in 362 Dwight St, for community gathering, organizing, and exploring art, design, community and culture, that has seen the process of several projects, including the public art installation “Arrivals” in the underpass of Mosher St, and the series of events of “Holyoke Visible”, including its iconic trailer cart.
