The Valley Bike Share Program is starting this summer, and we wanted to share the details of how this program works, how you can sign up, and learn all about the technology enclosed in the 500 bicycles that will be located in docking stations across the cities of Holyoke, Northampton, Springfield, Amherst, and UMass.
This is a session on location at the Office of Planning and Sustainability in Northampton City Hall, where its Director, Wayne Feiden, spoke with Radioplasma about the Valley Bike Share.
To celebrate the launching of this program, there is an event scheduled for Thursday, June 28th, at Pulaski Park in Northampton, from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM. There will be a demonstration of the bikes, an official launching presentation, followed by a bike parade. Simultaneously, the bike share stations in the five cities will be activated for members to begin utilizing them.
WEATHER UPDATE: As weather forecasts indicate a possibility of rain for the day of launching, if it is deemed necessary, the event will be moving to the Smith College Indoor Athletic Facilities at 106 Lower College Ln, Northampton, MA.
You can sign up, download the app, see the location of the bike stations, pricing, and get all the information about the Valley Bike Share program at their website, http://valleybike.org
